Diagnosis With Brief Discussion

Diagnosis
Glomus tumor of the trachea
Radiologic Findings
Chest radiographs (Figs. 1 & 2) show a polypoid mass in the trachea. Contrast-enhanced chest CT scan (Fig. 3) shows a hypervascular enhancing mass in the right posterolateral wall of the lower trachea.
Brief Review
Glomus tumors are neoplasms derived from the modified smooth muscle cells of the glomus body. It is extremely rare in the lung and trachea. Glomus tumors usually arise from the posterior membranous wall in the lower two thirds of the trachea.
